Happy New Year Yikes!

Here we are in 2023. New year’s always bring with them new promises for fresh starts. But, what about the ones that are still working on the same projects? The same issues? The same fears and anxieties?

I recently read an article highlighting an interview that CBS News conducted with four scientists. The news isn’t good. What struck me was how quickly they’re predicting the extinction will most likely take place. Decades. Not Centuries. Decades.

So this really got me thinking about the type of art I make. Anyone who knows me knows that I advocate for artists making art with messages that reflect the world we live in. I now know that these “messy” pieces I have been creating are just that. These are really messy times.

There are a lot of artists making political art. There are a lot of artists making social statements with their art. As for me, I think abstract is spot on for these times. It feels like what we need. Emotion. Feeling. Concern. Outrage! I could go on but I won’t. I think I’ve made my point.

Anyway, Happy New Year!
