Ever since the pandemic, I have been exploring abstract expressionism more and more. I started creating this piece after hearing about the fires in Maui. It's a work in progress. This is a detail of the painting so far. Anyone who is familiar with my work knows how much I love these colors. If you follow my blog, you also know how much I preach about global warming.
I don’t know what it will take for us to turn the destruction around. Actually, I do. I think we all do. It’s going to take far more commitment than anyone seems to be willing to make. We’ve lost that sense of community. We don’t know our neighbors anymore. We don’t care about other people’s problems. We have enough of our own. SOME of our leaders would rather wage war on culture than address the real problems that people deal with daily. Like too much heat and over-priced gas and food. Our Florida governor doesn’t even give a shit about our dying coral reefs.
It really doesn’t help that Fox News makes comments disparaging the President for taking action. Or claiming that the smoke from Canada isn’t a result of climate change. It’s time to tell the climate deniers that they are wrong. We’re not “maybe” going to suffer soon. We already are.
Not centuries, not decades, NOW.
OK. Next week I’ll just write about art. Maybe.
