Allow Me To Rant A Little (And Enjoy My Art)

I like to show off my art and write about my art in my posts. However, today I want to rant about something else. I heard recently that the CO2 levels have reached an all-time high. Read about it here. Stephen Hawking predicted that mankind only has about 1,000 years left. I think he may have overestimated. We will be seeing major change in the next few decades.

Here’s the baffling part. I don’t get a sense that anyone is overly concerned about it. Sure there are G7 commissions and some governments (certainly not all) are trying to make changes. What I don’t see is very much, if any, changes in the average person’s behaviors. Or much corporate change. Case in point: Have you seen the new packaging for prescription drugs? Hopefully you don’t need any prescriptions but, let me tell you, everything comes in more plastic packaging and larger plastic containers.

So this got me thinking why? I believe that one of the reasons is our lack of community. We’ve lost that sense of helping each other and, by extension, our fellow humans. People think, “I’m just one person, what difference can I make?” Then, of course, there are those who are anti-government and anti-science. Not much anyone can do about them.

There are so many things that we as individuals can do. Using reusable shopping bags. Stop using plastic straws. I saw a sign one time that said, “It’s just one straw. Said a billion people.” Buy electric cars if you can. Even just taking your own coffee mug to the office and buying used clothes.

I’m a huge nature lover. Nothing fills the soul like a nature hike. Or just being around nature. Can we even imagine a world without nature? Mankind would not survive.

And that’s my rant. Thanks for reading! Now, enjoy my art.
